Self Check CHECKPOINT

Matthew 26:17-30

Inspired thots:

Jesus knows all things. He gives clear instructions. He speaks clearly. He is in charge of everything.
Am I listening? Do I accept what He says or am I still anxious with my own thoughts? The latter is where the danger is.

And as the disciples each ask Jesus, "Surely not I, Lord?"; their question structure implies a self-righteousness ~ a presumptive attitude. Why was the question not,"Is it I, Lord?" ~ to indicate humility for man is not omniscient as God. We dont know if we would falter.

Judas also asked the question, but with a slight difference; did you notice it? "Surely not I, Rabbi?" He called Jesus "Rabbi" (teacher) rather than "Lord". Our words can betray our inmost feelings and attitude. Perhaps he was there riding the waves only, and not humbled by who Jesus really is. Perhaps he saw Jesus as only a man; a teacher who could speak well and did some amazing stuff. But all these didnt touch his heart like they should, and did the other disciples.
