This world is not His home

Matthew 8:18-34

Inspired thots:

1) v20: This world is not His home... that is the simple truth; and Jesus demonstrated it by sleeping in the boat (v24) . Sigh! My 'poor' Saviour... always thinking of others and not Himself.

• Jesus was in the flesh... and He would have physical needs, such as rest... sigh!
• We all love a sound sleep every night, but I dont think Jesus would have gotten much of it with His demanding schedule of healing and compassion for the people.

2) v22: "let the dead bury its dead". Again, to reiterate... this world has its own structure.

• a) The world is a 'dead' place... Jesus lives! His people live!
• b) The world has its own traditions and processes. Let those in Christ follow His way and not the world's.
• c) As the saying goes,"Birds of the same feather flock together".

3) Nevertheless, Jesus is the one in control... He is the one with the Authority for all to obey ~ the winds, the waves and the demons! (v27,29)

a) How sad then that only man could not recognise Jesus' authority nor want to accept it (v34)

b) How intriguing the thot that man prefers to 'acclimatise' himself to the harsh conditions (evil) around him rather than to embrace change for his benefit...
hmmm...
