The LORD is our Head

Micah 1 & 2

Inspired thots

The Lord works for His people; even though the people sinned, He comes through for them. How wonderful in 2:13 "Their KING will pass on before them, the Lord at their head."

Wow! The Lord goes before His people.... hence, only blessings flow though harm is intended by the enemy.

Cannot Run From God

Jonah

Inspired Thots

The Lord will choose His own for His will. No one can run away from God; He knows what is best. He always has the best in mind for His people. He sees the future and knows what His people need. It is better to obey God if one hears clearly from Him. There is no running away from Him. He will bless as we walk in His ways. God is So good!

Be Merciful & Compassionate

Obadiah

Inspired thots

Only 21 verses comprise the book of Obadiah. Though it speaks of Edom's judgment, it reveals a couple of contemporary lessons:

1) Be merciful to those who are under siege (physical or spiritual).
Don't glee over them or take advantage of them in their days of calamity.

2) The Lord will have each account for the callous deeds executed on others who are unfortunate.
He always avenge for He is the Righteous Judge.

Restoration After Judgment

Amos 9

Inspired thots

A good ending despite the terrible judgment of the Lord on those who refuse to come back to Him. However, He does restore blessings to His people; always compassionate and merciful. This is our God. When the Lord judges, there is no where to hide. He will seek out everyone who has wronged Him but will restore those whom He loves.

Which side are we on?

Famine of God's Word

Amos 8

Inspired thots

The time will come when there would not be the opportunity to hear God's word. "A famine of God's Word" -  rarely heard. God and His prophets would not be available when people want them. How true God's words of "seek the Lord while He may be found". If we are not drawing close to God now, it would be difficult when the day of Judgment comes.

Interceding Against God's Wrath

Amos 6 & 7

Inspired thots

Impending judgments on Israel were thwarted by Amos' intercession. God is compassionate and merciful towards His people even though they are very stubborn. How important to INTERCEDE for the nation lest God's wrath and judgment are poured out on the land and more sufferings come to the people. The role of intercessors is very important to ensure that all is well with the people and God. A heart of compassion just like God to turn God's wrath away from His terrible judgments. But, when will the people learn?

Simple Living Conditions

Amos 5

Inspired thots

It is very simple to live a fulfilling life... SEEK the Lord and live; seek good and not evil; love good and establish justice. So simple but difficult with man who is self-centered.

The Day of the Lord is darkness when His judgment comes; fear and trembling for those who are not prepared for it. God is not looking for sacrifices and burnt offerings without a sincere and contrite heart. The former would be rejected without the latter.

Failure to Return to God

Amos 3 & 4

Inspired thots

God's people would be judged and punished when they do not return to Him even though He has been calling them again and again. There would be no more mercy and grace when God is taken for granted. There would be no more time for excuses when Jesus comes again to judge. If we have chosen Him, how should our living be today for tomorrow? (3:3)

Each would be accountable to God for failing to hear and repent. Do we see the end to choose the means today?

The Righteous LORD Judges

Amos 1 & 2

Inspired thots

The book of Amos starts off with the listing down of the wicked acts of each people; and God's impending judgment on them. God is watching and will hold every people accountable for their callous ways. Not even Judah or Israel is spared.

Let us be humble to keep in line with God's laws and commandments to enjoy His blessings and not invoke His anger and judgment.

The Lord Saves & Restores

Joel 3

Inspired thots

The Lord will come for His people; He will cause war on His people's enemies. Those who are against His beloved shall suffer for the Lord is on THEIR side. He shall not let His beloved suffer too long. What a great and mighty God we serve!

The Day of the Lord is near (v14). Many people will be impacted. He will save and restore His own. Let us be on HIS side. War is coming.

The Day & Way of the Lord

Joel 2

Inspired thots

The Bible records the great and terrible Day of the Lord; and it paints a fearsome picture that makes the heart faint. But GOD IS GOOD! He always follow up with His goodness and grace. He calls His people to return and repent to enjoy His blessings. What a great God!

v25 He will restore what the locusts have eaten

v26 There shall be plenty and His people shall be satisfied

v27 His people shall acknowledge Him in their midst

v28 He shall pour forth His spirit upon all flesh

v32 THOSE WHO CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED!

Signs of the End Times

Joel 1

Inspired thots

Joel started with bad news; calling all the old and young to hear what the Lord is revealing for the future.

The days are coming when there is great famine; v4 "What the CUTTING locust left, the SWARMING locust has eaten; what the swarming locust left, the HOPPING locust has eaten; what the hopping locust left, the DESTROYING locust has eaten." There would be really NOTHING left!

A call to AWAKE to the situation;
LAMENT on the condition;
Be CONFOUNDED on the problem!

The only SOLUTION is the Lord! CALL on Him with mourning and fasting for the DAY of the LORD IS NEAR!

Not EveryONE Understands to Walk in God's Ways

Hosea 14

Inspired thots

Even at the end (last chapter), God is still wooing His people back to Him. How He longs for them at His side although they sin and stray away. But it is not everyone who would hearken to the voice of God; only the discerning knows and understands to walk uprightly in them. Transgressors would stumble in God's righteous ways. Profound but logical!

Adversity to Bring About Repentance

Hosea 13

Inspired thots

How often that God has to bring on Adversity to cause Repentance in His people. When life gets too good, people get complacent and stray away from God. They fall into sin with their pride and strange alliances that displease God. Adversity causes man to be humble and come back to God as they remember Him in good days.

How God loves His people to bring them back instead of letting them on their own destructive ways!

God @ Work

Hosea 11 & 12

Inspired thots

What a faithful God who cares for His people despite their stubbornness and rebellion! He waits for them to return to Him patiently and blesses them even when they do not know it is Him at work in their lives. It is the mercy of God working in the people to preserve them and have them know Him in due time.

Thank you Lord for not giving up on us! Thank you for not executing your fierce anger to destroy though we disappoint you for You are God and not man; YOU have not come to destroy. You love. Hallelujah!

Sowing to Reap

Hosea 10

Inspired thots

Out of the blue in the midst of chastisement, the Rhema word emerges;

v12  Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap the fruit of steadfast love; break up your fallow ground,
for it is time to seek the Lord, that He may come and rain salvation upon you.

It is time for action upon action to prepare for the Lord. The Word is clear; IT IS TIME TO SEEK THE LORD.

Sowing, Reaping and Breaking Up of FALLOW ground to be useful again. Now is the time to develop self for the Lord.

Stirring God to Anger

Hosea 8 & 9

Inspired thots

How terrible when the anger of the Lord is stirred up! This is caused by stubbornness of heart and the worship of idols than turning to God in daily living. People forget God and turn to others for provision, protection and pleasure. God is displeased with their callous attitude of forgetting Him after all that He has done for them.

Impending judgment when God is stirred up in anger to pursue His rebellious people. Have mercy O Lord!

The Faults of Man

Hosea 7

Inspired thots

God's people perish when they remain stubborn and disobedient with an unwilling heart to turn back to the Lord. Is it shame? pride? despair? stubbornness? Why not return to the Lord quickly who blesses richly? He waits to restore His people's status but they need to make that personal decision else it would be pouring clean water into mud.

Only strife will come upon the people who do not trust and hope in the Lord but themselves.

God's Heart Desire

Hosea 5 & 6

Inspired thots

The gist of these 2 chapters is that God's people tends to seek after every other thing to be worshiped than God Himself. Hence, God is angry and hurt; He forsakes them until they come back to their senses and repent before Him. He is merciful and gracious to receive them again into His loving arms. How wonderful is the love of our Heavenly Father!

Yet, do we know the heart of God? He expresses it SO clearly in 6:6 "For I desire steadfast love rather than sacrifice; the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings."

Let us be wise and humble to stay at God's side rather than live life on our own efforts and get into trouble to lose our eternal life.

Idolatry - a Stronghold

Hosea 4

Inspired thots

Do not belittle Idolatry; for it forms a stronghold over lives. From idolatry, hardness of heart (stubbornness) develops to ignore God's righteous decrees, adultery takes over and knowledge of God is thrown aside. It is like "hell is loosed." Lawlessness reigns instead of God, and the land mourns with the inhabitants.

One small step into sin sweeps lives into the depths of sin that turns God away from us. Have mercy O Lord for we are frail. Lead us into Your light everlasting.

Always a Victorious End with God

Hosea 2 & 3

Inspired thots

God is SO good! No matter how His people strayed away from Him, He always calls them back. There is always mercy and compassion by God to His people. God always gives good endings. Great shows with God.

God WILL Restore His own to Himself. Hallelujah!

Always Restoring & Blessing

Hosea 1

Inspired thots

No matter how much Israel had sinned, God is always merciful to them. He may be angry with them for a while but He always restores them to His side. That is the true nature of God; He loves His people. He chastises but forgives and envelops them with LOVE.

How great is our God of Love!

Thank you God for your loving mercy.

Hearing BUT Not Understanding

Daniel 12

Inspired thots

Finally! The last chapter of Daniel completed. And how amazing to read about the awesome truths and revelations.

God is SO majestic. There is SO much to know about Him and the times; yet, like Daniel, we would probably not know a whole lot of God's plans even if He chooses to reveal. v8 Daniel HEARD but DID NOT UNDERSTAND. He asked for more understanding but God chooses to reveal only a little.

Faith and patience are important qualities as God's people. However, the chapter ends well...
v10 Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but those who are wise shall understand.

The Rise and Fall of Man (Kingdoms)

Daniel 11

Inspired thots

The explanation to Daniel's dream & vision unfolds what seems to be world war 1. There is constant fighting and killing of kings to snatch kingdoms. Pride comes before a fall; proud kings fall. They are just man. Only God prevails. He is in full control throughout history. He wills it. None can defy.

How fruitless that men fight among themselves to fall by the sword. The righteous stand up for their faith; they are also cast down but to God's glory.

Set In Heart to Seek GOD

Daniel 10

Inspired thots

Daniel was a favored prophet of God; he had the gift of dreams and visions to understand and interpret. He humbled himself in seeking God and he set his mind to understand the deep things of God. He did what was right before the Lord to enter into the Lord's presence; and God favored him as He answers to Daniel.

Heavenly visions can be alarming and sap the strength in us; it is not for everyone to be gifted with it. Even the ungodly may not see yet feel the presence of God to tremble before Him.

The presence of the Lord strengthens!

God Hears & Answers to a Sincere Seeking Heart

Daniel 9

Inspired thots

How good and great is our God who hears the prayers of His people. He ANSWERS with revelations to those who seek Him diligently. It is only with HIS wisdom and understanding by grace and mercy that one can know the signs of the times; though a full understanding may be quite difficult.

Certainly there WILL be troubled times; even in the midst of development and restoration. How important to have a strong faith rooted in Christ alone when troubled times can shake our faith and all seem to go their own way.

Revelations Through Dreams and Visions

Daniel 8

Inspired thots

It is a GREAT privilege to be given the gift of dreams and visions; yet a GREATER privilege to have those dreams and visions revealed their meaning for understanding. But it is not easy to understand the revelations of God. They are so awesome and alarming at times; especially if they pertain to the end times. There is also responsibility along with this gift of dreams and visions with revelation; what is the next course of action with the knowledge?

May God be magnified to apportion us according to our talent to His glory. Better to live as king Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes; in essence, "live simply to enjoy life today" for God is our Portion.

There IS Victory at the End

Daniel 7

Inspired thots

It took me 2 days to complete this chapter as I was 'alarmed' at the first part where Daniel described his vision. The description is explicit enough to be of grave concern for deep understanding is required to appreciate the impact.

Praise God for the equally explicit explanation of Daniel's vision that removes the anxious thoughts! How great is God who knows the frailty of men. There is ALWAYS good news at the end; victory is in stored as we persevere to the end. Help us Lord. Come, Ancient of Days!

Consistency in Godly Lifestyle

Daniel 6

Inspired thots

Daniel was unperturbed with the conspiracy that rose against him; he excelled in whatever he did because he did it in honor of God. Hence, the favor of man was on him because the favor of God was upon him. He was consistent in his godly lifestyle. Thus, he prayed to God as usual despite the king's interdict of no petition to any god or man for 30 days.

Our God is much higher than any other; His laws and decrees should be obeyed instead of new changes made by men. Even king Darius was upset that Daniel was snared into the trap but fasted for him as Daniel spent the night with the lions.

What an amazing impact on a non-believer! A consistent godly lifestyle is a great testimony to others in the knowledge of God. There may not be a conversion but there WAS a CONVICTION!

Honoring God

Daniel 5

Inspired thots

God is the ONE who blesses us with EVERYTHING. How important to give thanks to Him in all our lives. Pride indeed comes before a fall as with king Belshazzar who angered God in not honoring Him by praising other gods that do not see or hear or know anything.

One can enjoy the wealth God has blessed but should not defile self as god in our way of life. Do not defile the things of God for He would execute judgment on those who are proud with self wisdom.

Fear God and honor Him alone in life to enjoy His favor.

Acknowledging God's Power in Praise & Thanksgiving

Daniel 4

Inspired thots

Another dream; another interpretation by Daniel. Heard but soon forgotten by the king; hence, the fulfillment of the prophecy. How important to remember what God says to keep one from being proud and self-sufficient.

King Nebuchadnezzar was perplexed by his dream until Daniel interpreted. But how quickly he forgets the warning. How true for humans to forget God's words of warning! We want only blessings but forget to walk uprightly and humbly before God to enjoy His best for us.

Have mercy on us, O Lord! Guide us, Holy Spirit in reminding us of God's ways. Empower us to obey Almighty God at all times! Amen.

Full Confidence in God through Complete Obedience

Daniel 3

Inspired thots

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were caught in defying the king's edict of worshiping the king's idol at the sound of any instrument because they were firm in their faith to worship only God. There would be troublemakers who would try to gain a foot by pulling others down.

God's people can get into serious trouble with the world but God is in full control; He will not allow anything to happen to His people without His consent. He is able to deliver if He desires especially when His name is at stake. God's people must continue to live in full confidence in Him with total obedience regardless of the outcome.

When God chooses to act, there is strong testimony.

A Good Testimony

Daniel 2

Inspired thots

King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream; and in his own wisdom, he did not make it known to his magicians. He demanded that THEY reveal his dream AND its interpretation. That would really test their magical abilities. When the king threatened to kill all the 'so called wise men' in the land, Daniel heard and commit the matter to God.

Lesson: How important to BE ALERT to the CURRENT TIMES to be a USEFUL VESSEL for God.

Daniel's apt intercession brought him favor with God and man (the king). He requested his friends to intercede with him to God for revelation. God revealed it to Daniel in a dream at night. Daniel revealed and interpreted the dream to the king who acknowledged Daniel's powerful God.

Lesson: A good testimony points the audience to Jesus as they acknowledge His work in their lives.

The Favor of God Brings Favor of Man

Daniel 1

Inspired thots

How inspirational that God is concern with His young people to be built up after Him. They may be in exile but great opportunities await those who desire to please the Lord just like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. They chose to eat well instead of indulging in rich foods and wine; God blest them with favor.

Favor with God brings on the favor with man.

I pray verse 4 for my youth daughters, E and P, that they will be 'youths without blemish, beautiful (handsome) and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to serve the king (of kings)' ~ Jesus.

The LORD is My Portion

Ezekiel 48

Inspired thots

God portions the land to His people so that none would lack anything for a fulfilling life. Even God has His own allotted portion ~ the temple. The city of God is aptly named "The Lord is there."

The Lord gives me my fair portion in life. He is my Portion; I should not complain or murmur. What He allots is the best; lets make it a FULL portion with the Lord.

Going Deeper with God

Ezekiel 47

Inspired thots

Ezekiel was brought into the temple where the River of God flows. He went from ankle deep, to knee deep and loins deep until he has to swim in it. But God is gracious to bring him back to the bank where many trees were planted and nourished with fresh fruit that does not fail.

God may bring us through difficult moments in life until we seem not to be able to have our feet on solid ground but He never fails to see us through the deep. He will lead us back to safety and pleasure. He will restore and feed us with the best.

"There were all kinds of trees for food." (v12) Fruit for food; leaves for healing. Complete bliss and perfect health. How wonderful! Praise the Lord.

A Straight Path

Ezekiel 46

Inspired thots

It is interesting to note how God prepares the place of worship for His people with specific instructions. The people have to come in by the NORTH gate and exit by the SOUTH gate. It is a STRAIGHT path they walk through after worshiping God. How interesting.

Lesson: After meeting up with God (worship), we should NOT be going back to where we came from.

Our Christian walk is a continuous straight path. Amen.

Contented Living through Righteousness

Ezekiel 45

Inspired thots

The Lord wants to bless His people with a contented life where righteousness rules; not greed. All men should live harmoniously with one another to enjoy a good life. It should not be a striving and gathering of earthly wealth but seeking the Lord and trusting in His provisions.

For the Lord will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. The right sacrifices would be pleasing to the Lord when offered with a right heart attitude. Peace shall dwell in the Lord as we worship the Lord.

A Call to Service

Ezekiel 44

Inspired thots

The Lord God calls His people to serve and minister unto Him. There is a special task for a group of special people - the Levites and priests. His instructions are very specific for understanding and execution.

How is it that we today do not hear it as clearly? Lord, forgive!

Many today may think the OT commands and instructions are staid and rigid but that is the simplest way for the people to understand to obey. Otherwise, we tend to add and subtract to the Word of God.

The priests and Levites are to serve God and His people but on the latter, not to the extent of giving in to their idolatry practices.

The Lord Fills the Temple

Ezekiel 42 & 43

Inspired thots

The last 2 chapters described vividly the NEW temple of the Lord; He has a purpose for it. HE IS GOING TO DWELL IN IT. The new temple represents the place where He will show forth His glory but even the whole temple cannot contain Him; for as He fills the whole temple, the WHOLE EARTH shone with its glory!

The effect is so powerful and impactful when the glory of the Lord comes down.

The NT says our bodies are the TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 6:19) Surely the glory of God can fill His people too. How awesome.

And there is an altar in the temple for offering. Our temple must also have an altar to offer the best offerings to God.

Friday, November 15, 2013

Preparing a New Temple of Worship

Ezekiel 40 & 41

Inspired thots

God reveals a new temple for His people to worship Him after they would be gathered from exile.
This shows how caring God is towards His people who had been rebellious towards Him. He does not hold His anger forever. He prepares the best for them to await their return to Him.

God is SO loving. Today, we are told that our bodies IS the Temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells within. Let us also prepare ourselves to worship God.

Restoration in God's Time

Ezekiel 39

Inspired thots

God is at work if we open our eyes. He is always working in our lives; everyday is an opportunity to know God in His wonder and majesty. Every situation and circumstance is brought about by God to reveal His glory and power.

Through calamities, He reveals and restores that which belong to Him. It is foolish to claim self-glory and honor when all things are subject to God. He will not let His name be profaned.

No Power Can Come Against the Lord

Ezekiel 38

Inspired thots

No power on earth can come against Almighty God; there is always a time and season in which God would act against those who rebel or are proud in their own strength and wisdom. It is the wise who keep humble and have the Lord honored in their lives.

Personal inspiration:
v7 "Be ready and keep ready, you and all the hosts that are assembled about you, and be a guard for them."

This speaks to me as an intercessory warrior to be ready and remain ready until God calls out for action. His timing is right. Intercessors have an important role in guarding God's people against danger and judgment. Yes, we are to inform those around us about the impending judgment of God and stir one another up to be prepared for God's judgment and Christ's coming.

Dry Bones Made Alive

Ezekiel 37

Inspired thots

God answers prayers.... I was asking Him for a word of encouragement for my sister with 4th stage cancer before reading His word. This passage speaks of dry bones made alive by God's power and grace. I claim it for my sister to be healed of cancer in Jesus' name.

As the prophet Ezekiel prophesied according to God's command, it came about. Truly, the Word can come to life in the mighty power of God.

Heart of Flesh from Heart of Stone

Ezekiel 36

Inspired thots

Only God can do the impossible; Only He can change a heart of stone into a heart of flesh. Stubbornness can be transformed into obedience. God is merciful to His people. He does not always chide or chastise; He wants only to bless.

He will not let the enemy gloat over His people's downfall for it is the Lord's doing.

Who can go against the Lord? The wise seeks after Him and allows Him to have His way for their own sake. The Lord will not let His own name be profaned.

God Acts to Make Himself Known

Ezekiel 35

Inspired thots

Many a time God acts against the enemies of Israel to show His glory and power. It is a time of revelation on WHO GOD is.

His awesome judgment acts will prove His existence and faithfulness to those whom He has chosen.

Many will know God from His mighty acts; hence, let us not be proud and gloat over others' calamities which may be part of God's judgment. Let us see and be humble; lest His judgment comes upon us.

The Lord is the Shepherd

Ezekiel 34

Inspired thots

The Lord God is always good; He watches over His people all the time. If His appointed shepherds do not perform their duties well, the Lord God will step in. He is the GREAT Shepherd who takes good care of His sheep.

He will bring back those who are scattered, lost or strayed. He will feed His sheep and rescue them from evil. He will give them rest and strengthen them.

He will judge between sheep and sheep; rams and he-goats. He is the Righteous Shepherd.

The Watchman's Message

Ezekiel 33

Inspired thots

Everyone is useful for the Lord. Each is a watchman for Him to warn others about the impending judgment of God.
Those who understands the signs of the times MUST SOUND the TRUMPET to warn others; it is up to them to heed the warning. The blood of the people would not be required of the watchman who forewarns the coming danger.

Even the righteous must continue to do right before the Lord as ONE SIN can wipe out all past credibility. Everyone is accountable to the Lord personally.

Friday, November 1, 2013

The End Result

Ezekiel 31 & 32

Inspired thots

Those who cause terror on earth during their days would share the same end result; bottomless pit!

God will cast them into the deep as a punishment for their sins and evil when they heeded not the warnings given time and again. The great and mighty on earth shall not be spared; they too will be in the pit when they die if they continue to walk in their self-righteous ways. It would be an eternal shame on the heads of terrorists in the pit when they share the same fate.

Repent now with a humble heart while the grace of God still abounds.

Self Reliance Brings On Pride

Ezekiel 29 & 30

Inspired thots

The Lord judges Egypt for her pride in being self sufficient. Another reminder that the whole earth belongs to the Lord and no one can take that glory away from Him. He will punish those who thinks they are gods or in control of their lives or destiny. Only God is in control of destinies.

Lets keep a humble heart towards our Maker and enjoy the life He has blessed us with according to His ways. Why rebel? Why seek self glory?

Our time on earth is limited. But eternity... is eternity....

Think about the means to THE END....

Pride before Fall

Ezekiel 27 & 28

Inspired thots

Tyre and Sidon gloated over the chastisement of Israel by God which was to refine them and bring them back to His presence. Hence, God punished them for belittling Israel despite their wisdom and wealth. Tyre grew proud from its vast riches and acted like a god. It forgot its humble beginnings. It was blameless until it fell subtly into sin.

One must be very careful in life to walk righteously before God for there are subtle temptations and distractions which can cause our downfall through sin like pride and self righteousness as well as an over dependence on the things of this world instead of God.

Do Not Scheme Against Others

Ezekiel 26

Inspired thots

Tyre was gloating over the downfall of Jerusalem which was punished by God for disobedience. Tyre was scheming to take advantage of Jerusalem's weak condition in that dire hour. But God will not allow it to be so; the Lord God watches over His own.

He may chastise His stubborn people but He will protect them like a loving Father. We are always safe in God's hands regardless the circumstances.

Do Not Gloat Over Others' Chastisement

Ezekiel 25

Inspired thots

God may chastise His people out of love like a father disciplines his children; others should not gloat or glee over the misfortunes befallen on another party. God will bring on due vengeance as EVERYONE would have sinned against Him in some form or way.

Let us be humble and plead for His mercy to turn away His wrath. God is Good; He sets us on His right path to enjoy His blessings!

Sunday, October 27, 2013

Signs that are Testimonies

Ezekiel 23 & 24

Inspired thots

God will work in His people's lives with signs of judgment that would be testimonial of His greatness. God chastises His people to have them return to Him; and in turn, they would be testimonies of His greatness to others.

God's purpose is wonderful; beyond comprehension. It is better to remain in God's covering than to come under His judgment. When God performs signs, we'd better listen and understand His message for our own good.

Friday, October 25, 2013

God is Looking

Ezekiel 22

Inspired thots

God is looking for those among the rebellious to BUILD UP the wall and STAND in the GAP for the land so that He would not have to destroy it for the sins of the people. He is better than Abraham who negotiated up to 10 righteous men to save Sodom and Gomorrah. God only needed ONE RIGHTEOUS man who is for Him; with a heart for God and willing to be compassionate for the sinful land.

Sadly, there was none in Israel as in Sodom and Gomorrah. Is there such a lack of righteous men to appease God?

Sword of Judgment

Ezekiel 21

Inspired thots

It is God's sword of judgment that will come against those who are stubborn to obey Him. God's sword would be unsheathed, sharpened and wielded; used by the enemy upon God's people who do not repent and return to God.

How long would God's people remain stubborn to their own wicked sinful ways to fall into judgment? How long would they be blinded with their own foolish wisdom that they do not see the impending destruction to themselves?

Praise God for His word to teach and instruct lest we fall like them.

God's Honor

Ezekiel 20

Inspired thots

God has to defend His own honor against those who perform abominable things as His people. He has to maintain His righteousness and dignity on a wider circle as others are watching and judging. He has to maintain His character as a consistent God who is right and true.

But how sorrowful God must be to act against His sinful people; yet a choice is to be made ~ His honor or His people. It is a most difficult choice. Would that sorrow bring on regret? Would God regret choosing His people?

Yet, He does not forsake them forever; He is compassionate to turn away His wrath from them after a time. How great is our God of mercy!

The Way of Man in Life

Ezekiel 19

Inspired thots

A lamentation on the princes of Israel; how God depicts them in their way of life. The princes are brought up to devour others but the enemies can unite to overcome even the strongest opponent. Hence, without God, all human efforts are in vain. Much suffering and even death come upon those who trust in their own strength and wisdom. Sorrow comes at the end of the day.

A lion can be subdued; a vine can be plucked up despite its abundance. These are helpless without God. The wise will consider God in their ways to enjoy blessings and honor for a blessed life.

Each their Own Judgment

Ezekiel 18

Inspired thots

It may seem hard to understand the ways of God but it is not too difficult in reality.
Every person has to account for his or her self before our righteous God who wants only righteousness from His creation; his people.

Those who sin against Him shall die...although God has no pleasure in any one dead. He would rather the wicked repent and be saved. Each shall be accountable to his or her own deeds on God's judgment day. Lets not be found wanting as we cannot presume on our past righteousness or rest on our laurels.

Pass Up Greed & Discontentment

Ezekiel 17

Inspired thots

The LORD GOD warned Israel against greed and discontentment which can bring about severe consequences. Let the Lord have his way and be Lord over our lives regardless of our current dissatisfying condition which may be the hand of God upon us.

The best approach to take in unpleasant situations is to seek the Lord and submit totally to Him for grace and mercy rather than planning alternatives on our own. Israel faced dire consequences when they planned to seek help from Egypt while under Babylon's captivity.

All in God's Hand OR Our Hands?

Ezekiel 15 & 16

Inspired thots

God is merciful and kind to care for His people; He looks upon them kindly with favor and set them up on dignity in life. But ungrateful people turned their backs on God to seek after other pleasures. O, the consequence is intense!

Our lives are molded by our greed and sinful nature ~ ungrateful, greed, discontent, pride, lust... all draws us away from God and evoke His anger and judgment on ourselves. Lets be wise to put our hands in God's hands of grace and favor rather than anger and judgment.

Saved by Righteousness

Ezekiel 14

Inspired thots

When the judgment of God falls, one can only escape through RIGHTEOUSNESS and nothing else. The righteous cannot even save another. Each one has to account for him or herself; and it is his or her righteousness before God that will save them. Examples of Noah, Daniel and Job were given. These were men of righteousness in God's eyes and heart.

Righteousness for self is secured only through humility and obedience to God.
Jesus died on the cross to wash away our iniquities so that we can be righteous before God and be saved.

Simple message of love!

Warning to Those who Speak Falsely

Ezekiel 13

Inspired thots

False prophets of men and women spoke falsely to the people of God to give them hope when God has declared judgment. These prophets spoke to appease the fear of the people instead of speaking what God wants His people to hear.

Prophetic words need not be all the time blessings and prosperity as warnings are also given to turn the sinner back to God.

Obedience to the word of God would bring honor and blessing to the hearer. One must learn to discern the voice of God and obey the given word regardless of the condition of the word - favorable or unfavorable.

Signs for Confession, Repentance and Fulfilment

Ezekiel 12

Inspired thots

The Lord God is very merciful to His people. He gives them signs and symbolic acts to help them understand His intentions so that they can repent and tell nations of His greatness. His words and visions shall come to pass in due time.

And NOW is the time for God's words to come to pass; there will be NO MORE Delays; no more false prophecies. The same message for TODAY! God's KAIROS is NOW! Every vision shall be fulfilled.

DD mentioned it yesterday at Malaysiagathering2013. God's church must awake & rise up for His kingdom to be built on.

Stony Hearts Made Flesh

Ezekiel 11

Inspired thots

Ezekiel was given another vision about the impending judgment on rebellious Israel that has become idolatrous. Their hearts have turned into stone; a symbol of stubbornness. But God is merciful; He will not always be angry.

If we repent of our wicked stubborn ways, He can turn our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh; one that would feel for Him and obey Him. And the glory of God shall rest upon us.

Four Living Creatures

Ezekiel 10

Inspired thots

This chapter describes the four living creatures that carry out the works of God. Although their description is explicit, it is still difficult to envision their exact form. But one thing is for sure...  These obey God faithfully unlike men. These creatures are faithful to God and do what is instructed to them by God. They are created to obey God for His glory.

And thus, the Glory of God fills and overwhelms the place... Brightness covers the area where God is.

Abominable Sins

Ezekiel 8 & 9

Inspired thots

There are certain sins that are abominable to the Lord which anger Him to pronounce judgment on His people.

1) Idol worship

God is a jealous God who wants us to worship Him alone for He is our Creator and Lover of our souls. He is angered by idol worship even from His most trusted and appointed priests. People chose to seek their solace apart from God and cause their own destruction.

2) Sun worship

People worship the image rather than the creator; they are worshiping the WRONG 'sun'... it is the SON of God who deserves all worship.

3) Fertility god

Again the people forgot their Creator who opens the womb; they choose to appeal to Tammuz a fertility god than God himself who gives life.

But the RIGHTEOUS shall be saved.

Know the Lord

Ezekiel 6 & 7

Inspired thots

Disasters come upon those who are disobedient to God so that they will know that HE is the Lord!

It is important to make Christ PRE-EMINENT in our lives to enjoy His blessings instead of Judgment.

Why choose pain and suffering for eternity when Christ reveals the best through Him to our loving Heavenly Father?

A Harsh Judgment

Ezekiel 5

Inspired thots

When disobedience continues through stubborn will, only harsh judgments from God will come about; if one does not repent after warnings from the Lord, there is no more mercy and hope but severe judgment.

How sad that one does not see and note the severity of their sin and stubborn nature but insists on enjoying the things of the world for this time alone?

The Lord speaks out His judgment on His disobedient and rebellious people through anger and disappointment. The sin of the people is so alarming that even God gives up on them...

A Symbolic Prophecy

Ezekiel 4

Inspired thots

Ezekiel was instructed by God to perform a symbolic act of the impending prophetic suffering of Israel and Judah. Disobedient people will suffer want; life would be difficult. They would be paying for their stubbornness against God.

What is our response then? If God gives us a clear warning, He is giving us time to repent and return to Him. Let us be alert to take His grace and mercy. Thank YOU Lord!

A Difficult Task

Ezekiel 3

Inspired thots

It is not easy to be a prophet or spokesman of God. Not only is the vision so astounding; the accompanying task is a great challenge. One must hear rightly the Word of God especially to others; how heavy the responsibility in conveying the Word of God (good or bad) to the targeted recipients.

But a total obedience brings protection and blessings. May the Lord grant us grace to speak His words boldly to save others from their wicked ways without fearing men.

A Difficult Vision

Ezekiel 1 & 2

Inspired thots

This is not an easy book to read; only God can give understanding by His mercy and grace.

Lord, what is it for me from this Book of Ezekiel?

A great and awesome vision; a terrible message of judgment and compassion. God brings forth a prophet to forewarn His people. Will they listen?

the Vision
The vision is very explicit yet it is difficult to envisage. It is explained as "...the form of.."  and "...with likeness of..." But the great brightness is a clear indication of the impending presence of the Lord. No satisfactory words could describe a heavenly revelation. The Lord is SO MAJESTIC it is hard to describe Him in mere words.

the Lesson
God is merciful and loving; He prepares His people for His coming & judgment. He gives them time to repent and sends prophets to warn them beforehand. He knows us through and through. He is compassionate to forewarn us.

Prophets are humans too; they can be discouraged by people who do not share their views or accept their messages from God. However, it is wiser to obey and rely on God than man.
Difficult visions may be given; ask God for boldness and wisdom to deliver well.

Trouble on Self

Lamentations 5

Inspired thots

This is one book that ends without a happy ending... a recollection of how trouble is brought unto the self when sin is allowed in our lives. How sad that the people of God is forsaken by their Creator when they remain stubborn in their wicked ways and not repent to Him.

There is only trouble when we choose to go our own ways instead of God's ways. Misery and weary souls are our lot when we do not come back to God quickly. We cannot hinge on God's grace and yet sin.

A Sad Affair

Lamentations 4

Inspired thots

What a sad story for those who do not trust in the Lord but run after the vanities of the world! There is no other ending but a sad conclusion to those who are rebellious and stubborn before God. When we are wicked in our ways, we would be rejected by God as well as by man. Past friends become foes when the rebels live in want if they continue in their wanton ways.

Only God is merciful to His people; He does not forsake them forever. How important to remember God in our lives to stay in His blessings and favor.

Remember God in Hope

Lamentations 3

Inspired thots

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. Hence, it is not surprising that Israel falls into sin and turns away from God. But if a sinner takes time to ponder over his situation and REMEMBERS God, he has hope. (v21)

When we HOPE in GOD, we have peace that God's steadfast love never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. Great is His faithfulness. Repent and Return to God to enjoy His goodness and grace. It is NOT His intention to inflict sorrow and judgment onto men but they sin against Him.

Be Wise to Turn Back to God

Lamentations 1 & 2

Inspired thots

One will soon realize we cannot escape God's wrath through our stubbornness and rebellion. Our pride and own wisdom will land us into trouble with God.

It is wiser to keep on God's ways to enjoy blessings and protection. It is important to REMEMBER that God's ways are always the best for us regardless of how attractive the world is with its offerings. Do not depend on prophets who prophesy deceptive visions and not expose iniquity.

2:19 ~ Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord!

Come, let us be true before God to receive His forgiveness, healing and blessings.

Why should we allow the wrath of God to come upon us instead of His favor? That would be foolishness.

Rebellion Against the Lord Brings Dire Consequences

Jeremiah 52

Inspired thots

The book of Jeremiah ends with an overview of the lesson to be grasped.

It is NOT WISE to rebel against the Lord with our own wisdom and wickedness for we bring on dire consequences upon ourselves and others. The poor choices of the kings brought hardship to their people. Wealth from God should be shared to bless others so that all will enjoy life for God is the Creator of man.

Although Israel was made captive, God also stirred the hearts of their enemy to treat them kindly. When God's people are humbled, God's favor comes on even from the unexpected resources.

The Lord is Rising

Jeremiah 51

Inspired thots

God has set His plans in motion. He is rising up to vindicate His people from their enemies. Though they are rebellious, the Lord is merciful and gracious to His people. He does not rebuke or chastise forever. He will bring down the haughty; He rescues those who trust in Him regardless of the seemingly long wait.

It is TIME for WAR; sound the battle cry for the Lord! One must be prepared by sharpening the arrows and taking up the shield. (v11) The army of God must be prepared NOW for the coming battle as God will arise soon to vindicate. God's army must LIFT UP THE BANNER, reinforce the guard and STATION the WATCHMEN! (v12)

Let us be used as a WAR CLUB in the Lord's hand (v20) "Do not lose heart or be afraid when rumor is heard in the land" (v46)

The Lord Avenges

Jeremiah 50

Inspired thots

The Lord is VERY good! He is always merciful and compassionate towards His people though they may sin against Him. He turns to vindicate them from the enemy that bullies them. He avenges on behalf of His people who suffer in the hands of their enemy.

Terrible deeds will fall upon those who go against the Lord; even the wicked will know and fear Him on the day when He acts. There is no mistaking of the Lord when He proves Himself mighty and victorious.

God'sJudgment

Jeremiah 49

Inspired thots

No one or nation will escape the Judgment of God. Everyone will need to account himself or herself to God for their lives at God's judgment. Hence, NOW is the time to REPENT and RETURN to God from our wicked and self-centered ways.

NOW is the time to DRAW CLOSE to God like never before; seeking Him in everything; giving our lives to Him for His glory. Let us not end up like the nations that are subjected to the wrath of God due to disobedience. Lord God Almighty, grant us Your grace and mercy to keep us on Your way!

Defiance Against God Brings Consequences

Jeremiah 47 & 48

Inspired thots

The Lord's judgment will come swiftly on those who are disobedient to His Word and Ways. He will not keep silent forever on the wicked and rebellious. Hence, while there is time, let us repent to turn away God's wrath.

It does not augur well with us to defy God who is our Creator and Savior. He KNOWS the best for us. Let us trust HIM and not our own deeds and riches (48:7)

If we slack in doing HIS WORK, we are cursed (48:10). How necessary to be walking in total obedience to God in our lives. We CANNOT remain the same (48:11) and we cannot glory in our own glory (48:18)

The Lord Watches Over His People

Jeremiah 46

Inspired thots

The Lord is very good; He has all things in control. One can trust Him for the best although His actions cannot be fathomed and purposes understood.

Lord, You will avenge the enemy on our behalf; yet, we need to be purified for Your glory. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Praise Your Name, Jesus. Who can be against You? for You alone are great. You have the best plan for Your people who trust in You.

Acting in Defiance

Jeremiah 44 &45

Inspired thots

The people still acted in defiance against the Lord even when an exact word of warning is given to them. There was no remorse or repentance after hearing the word of judgment. The fear of the Lord has gone from within them. It was a great deception which the people indulged in as they sought the pleasures of the world. How futile is their understanding and values.

But God is merciful to Baruch and Jeremiah who were faithful to Him through thick and thin. He vindicates them for His glory.

Asking BUT not Obeying

Jeremiah 42 & 43

Inspired thots

The remnant sought the word of God and proclaimed to obey regardless of how it may sound. But when they did get the word, which was not favorable, they did not obey.

1) Empty promises. The people declared that they would obey God through hearing His word but did not. They were already bent on receiving only good bearings. Hence, they rejected unfavorable instructions.

2) Self reign. The people had already decided on what to do. They would only go with favorable instructions. They still want to be their own man and not a people after God.

3) Pretense. The people pretended that they are keen to follow God and to know Him. But they have their own hidden agenda and would not divert from their own foolishness which they deem more favorable. They were taking a risk.

Winds of Evil

Jeremiah 40 & 41

Inspired thots

Submitting to foreign invasion leadership may not necessarily be a bad thing when it is part of God's plan. The foreign power may be merciful to those remaining in the city and Jews did come back from their scatterings for all want to live peaceably.

However, some princes came back with ulterior motives; to seize power and be king. Gedaliah did not believe the rumour of evil against him. He had a kind heart. Yet the rumour proved true. Ishmael did rise up & murdered him. Thankfully, Johanan took initiative to drive out Ishmael.

I believe God knows best for His people; He knows the greed and evil in their hearts. Hence, He had them captured and sent to Babylon with a humble remnant living in the land.

How do we respond to winds of evil? We need to seek the Lord on it to be wise and safe for we really do not know man's heart which is basically evil. It is better to be under God's hand of grace and mercy.

Twist of Event

Jeremiah 39

Inspired thots

Great chaos and riots surrounded Israel as God's word came to pass with the invasion of king Nebuchadrezzar. But one amazing happening is that the king was intent to inflict pain and suffering upon king Zedekiah who disobeyed God's word of warning.

BUT king Nebuchadrezzar commanded that Jeremiah be treated well and allowed to live in the land among those who were allowed to remain. King Nebuchadrezzar commanded the captain of the guard to look after Jeremiah well and do him no harm, but deal with Jeremiah as Jeremiah tells him to. (v11). What a strange command by the enemy! Did king Nebuchadrezzar fear God? Did he hear about Jeremiah and his ministry?

We may never know until we meet up in heaven but one thing is for sure; God can use ANYONE who is willing and available to work out His will to His glory. This twist of event is an eye opener that an enemy is a vessel of the Lord to work out His purposes.

And God remembered the godly Ebedmelech, the Ethiopian who trusted in Him. A stranger living in a foreign land who fears God will not be in danger.

Fear Men More than God

Jeremiah 37 & 38

Inspired thots

King Zedekiah feared men more than he feared God. He invited Jeremiah to his presence to seek the Lord's words but he did not take action upon it as the given Word was not pleasant and the princes and people were displeased with the unfavorable prophecy.

King Zedekiah was also weak in his self confidence besides his faith. He would listen and submit to the desires of men than to God. He was easily swayed with men's requests or insistence. There is no leadership in him although he is in the position of power.

People of God must KNOW who their God is and who they are in Him to have their faith arise and not fear men. Romans 8:31 says,"If God is for us, who can be against us?" Better to fear God than man.
