Prayer is a very important component of a godly life. Praying in secret pleases the Heavenly Father as it indicates a special bonding of the relationship instead of praying in public to display piety.
Worldly attractions will rot and be stolen while heavenly possessions last forever. Trust God to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19) for He knows all things. Bottom line: v33 Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
A daily time out with the Lord Jesus, to hear Him speak to ME. I am asking the Lord to share HIS thoughts with ME, to teach me more about Himself, and how I can be drawn closer to Him... for 'His thoughts are not my thoughts and neither are His ways my ways' Isaiah 55:8,9. Beginning with the Beattitudes, there is more digging into the inner self for cleansing and molding. Ends so beautifully with "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect." The highest order; the final presentation before God from lowly to high estate.

Know Who You Are in God

This chapter on the temptation of Jesus is the prelude to Jesus' successful ministry. Trials and temptations will come prior to any ministry and the way to overcome them is to be affirmed in your position in God.
The devil started the first two temptations with "If you are the Son of God,..."; this implies an attempt to cause doubt about who Jesus is to God. If Jesus were to succumb to the temptations, it is an indication that He has to prove His position in God. But a sure knowledge of position needs no testing or proofs; it is obvious at all times. There is always peace and tranquility without showing off to others.

What a great ministry that John the Baptist had! Preparing the way for Jesus.... selfless, sure and simple. How often we now ask Jesus to prepare the way for US... instead of the other way round. Repentance is only through Jesus; all must hear and understand. Praise God for the Holy Spirit today to prompt many to salvation. God is merciful.
What a wonderful proclamation of God's favor upon those who do His will...

God LEADS every step

When it concerns God's plan, He is the Leader. He will lead His people or servants every step of the way. Only obedience is needed to participate in God's plan. Be quick to hear and obey as God reveals His plan. It is majestic as we view the plan in hindsight. Hence, we can trust God fully on His plans.
How easy it seems for Joseph and the wise men to heed God's revelation through dreams. Immediate obedience takes action. This has become a lost art for many of God's people who hear but not obey immediately.

The great plans of God are surpass every other human plan. He works from generation to generation; waiting for people to draw close to Him and be amazed with what He can offer. He always seeks obedient people who would join Him in His plans for fulfillment such as Joseph and all those before him.
Now is the modern era; new generations arise. Would God find faithful and obedient people now as in days of old?

Heed the Warnings... and Repent

How awesome is God! He reveals His will and ways to spare us from His wrath and judgment; yet we esteem Him not. He gives us signs and warnings to repent and be safe; yet we question and deny our wrong ways. When will we learn? Would we heed the warnings of God and be prepared for His great and terrible day of judgment?
God is so good. He does not leave His people alone to be defenseless. He prepares the way... it is a choice for us.

Serving ONE God

God is our Heavenly Father who cares and requires faithfulness. Priests are people who should be walking faithfully with God according to His commandments and teaching the people to do the same. There is only ONE God to serve; not Self.
Many people turn away from God to enjoy Self until calamity or sorrow strikes. But God will not listen when we treat Him as Santa Claus. He demands obedience and faithfulness all the way. A united family with godly offspring instead of divorce and polygamy especially with foreign gods influences.

Blemished Offerings to the Lord

What a great sin we have when we offer blemished offerings to the Lord! A greater sin when we claim ignorance or denial of such a wicked deed! The chapter is so clear about man's attitude and behavior. We give 1001 reasons in justifying our unrighteous deeds to the Lord.
Yes, we may start off well with a genuine desire, even strong passion, to know God and do His will. Yet, when He blesses, we tend to hold back the best tithes and offerings. Giving the best to the Lord is hard for a selfish servant. It is a proclamation of not trusting and honoring the provider for the best while a selfish attitude is displayed.
Have mercy, Lord! Forgive.

The time is coming when the Lord would act against the nations that cause suffering to His people. He shall cause wars and plagues to fall on those who are rebellious and merciless on His people. A great and awesome battle is in store; how it would really be no one knows except the Lord.
God's people would be cleansed and readied to be received into glory. But is it the end or more to come? People would go to Jerusalem to worship? The things of God are hard to understand. Lord, let faith arise.

Throughout the chapters, the presence of the Lord is with His people. He never left them despite the troubles they go through even if they did not know it or feel His presence. Our Almighty God is always watching and waiting; His will and plans are perfect. He fights for His people; victory is for sure.

Entreat the FAVOR of the LORD

The wise and discerning would entreat the favor of God if they understand His greatness and majesty. There is truly no one like Him.
God is always loving and kind; regardless of how His people mistreat Him. They fast and seek His favor but do not obey His call. No wonder God is angry. How dare we treat God like a genie or santa claus. But He is always merciful and gracious to forgive and restore. Thank You Lord.

What a great privilege to be chosen to understand the deep things of God! Yet, with every heavenly revelation, there must be Obedience. Chosen to understand leads to Obedience to participate in the divine plans of God; a great privilege that must not be abused.
If Judgment is impending, we should forewarn others to repent;
If a task is given, we should be ready to put our hands to the plow;
If an instruction, we should immediately obey.

Visions & Symbols

It is not easy to understand the things of God; heavenly visions and symbols from the Lord even with explanations can be hard to grasp. But God is good and merciful; He not only reveals His plans through visions and symbols to encourage His people; He is patient and loving to explain and bear with us until we get it.
What is OUR response? Little by little, bit by bit.... we shall understand as we meditate, mull and ponder over what the Lord reveals... for... "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Matt 4:4

What an Amazing God who shares what is to come! Good and Bad! He knows it all. He will not let His beloved be forsaken; He is merciful to nations that will come before Him; bud-grafted into His kingdom. That's me and the Gentile church! Hallelujah.
God shall gather His people to Himself in due time. Truly our thoughts are not His thoughts; and neither are His ways our ways. We will have 1001 questions but the Lord works well in His own time. We cannot understand His plans fully even if He reveals.

A Call to REBUILD

The Lord is calling His people to rebuild the temple which is badly neglected. People of God tend to care about their own things rather than the things of God but they do not realize that they would only face more want when they are self-centered than God-centered.
Today, we understand that our body is the temple of God too. We need to rebuild our body comprising soul, mind and spirit to God's likeness. "Be holy as I am holy" (1 Pet 1:16) and "Be perfect as Your Heavenly Father is perfect." (Matt 5:48) The time is coming when there will be more trials and tribulations; persecutions will come. God's people must be ready; prepare now. Start building into God.

Judgment Before Restoration

The Judgment of God shall come upon His people and the earth for their stubbornness and wickedness. No one can rely on any one else or anything in God's judgment. The wise shall repent and stay close to God to avoid His fearsome judgment.
Yet the Lord is merciful and compassionate; He loves. He restores His people. He will give them time to repent. He brings calamity upon them to turn back to Him; yet, not many will respond favorably to the Lord's calling. How sad!

Our Response vs God's Response

Our ways are SO different from God's ways... hence, our responses to Him and His will also differ. We are required to WAIT on the Lord and WATCH His mighty works while He WORKS His WILL. What He says will come to pass; we must wait patiently even though it seems slow.
Many who grow impatient may try to take matters into their own hands or turn to idols for a quick fix. It is interesting to note the strong need for patience in waiting on the Lord. Let the Lord have His way... in His time.

Having a close relationship with God allows us to commune with Him any time to understand His works in life. There may be many issues that distraught us for we are so finite. But it is OK to seek God's wisdom and ways for better understanding; He will answer.
The way things happen in life is always part of God's plan; it is just that WE dont understand the ways of God; as Isaiah said in 55:8,9 - God's ways and thoughts are not the same as ours.

The Good & Bad of the LORD

The first two chapters reveal the GOOD and 'BAD' sides of God. He will avenge His people on those who oppressed them unjustly. He will restore goodness and blessings to His people as He delivers them. It is the wise one who hides in the shadow of the Almighty instead of leaning on self or depending on others; for no one can stand before the Lord.
The third chapter reveals that Evil would be destroyed by God although they may reign for a time. God is always in control of every situation.

Patiently Waiting for the Lord

It is not easy to wait upon the Lord when things do not go your way. There is an inner struggle that wants to trust in the Lord and wanting things your way quickly. The world does impact us more than we think; it is easier to incline towards what can be seen than what cannot.... hence, live by faith and not by sight!
Jesus shall come again and deliver His own who waits patiently until the end. The way to wait on the Lord is to keep the heart and mind focused on Him and the heavenly things instead of letting the world crowd in or take precedence.

Accountability by the Leaders

Leaders of God's people shall be called to account for their erroneous ways of leadership among the people. They would need to account their deeds and advice to God's people; whether in driving them towards God or away from Him. Those who did the latter shall be punished while the former must be steadfast until the Lord delivers. Otherwise, He does not hear their cry of help.
It is important for God's leaders to hear from Him clearly and convey the right message to the people; otherwise, there would be deception and leading away from God. Only those with the Holy Spirit can have God's power and wisdom to speak God's words rightly to His people.
