To the one in love, there is no other who can match the loved one. Everything about the beloved is enticing and captivating; engrossing one another that reflects dedication. How happy when two can be united having found each other? They can spend their lifetime together enjoying work and pleasure.

Isn't it so with God? How precious are moments with Him for inspiration and revelation that one can draw closer and enjoy life to its fullest! Praise You, Heavenly Father for Your Great Love; indeed,  I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine. (v3) Thank you, Lord! Help me to appreciate You more and more each day with no idol in any kind.

A Ready Answer at All Times

When one loves another deeply, there is always a longing to be together; when separated, they yearn for one another. Sometimes they can miss each other by the way but the search is diligent. When one is questioned on the intense love relationship, there is a ready answer.

Would that be so with me and Christ? Is He my Beloved whom I yearn daily and miss earnestly when apart? Do I have a ready answer to those who query me on my God? There is SO much to know about Him; it is His love which first draws me to Him.

The Bride is Highly Esteemed

What a Wonderful love story when TWO become ONE! 

It is All Praises for the Bride who has prepared herself for her Groom; she is completely satisfied by her beloved. Even though she is dark and swarthy (1:5,6), her Beloved finds her beautiful. He calls her 'fair'. (v7)

Beauty lies in the eyes of the Beholder. It is not the physical beauty that attracts us to God; He sees much deeper within. He sees things so differently; always encouraging; always loving. What a great God I have! Amen! Hallelujah! For He loves Me!

It is so easy to Please God... I can ravish His heart (v9) with simple things. God appreciates the small offerings I give to Him. 

Seeking Your Love

When LOVE is in the air, the soul is restless. The heart only desires its true love and keeps searching until He is found.

That is how God's love is to us; what about US to Him?

When the Bridegroom comes, He will be arrayed in splendour. His throne is majestic; all will welcome Him. Will His bride be ready? Is she seeking and preparing to meet Him?

Hearing the Call of the Beloved

When there is a strong relationship, one will hear the call of the Beloved. The fair maiden is already waiting for the arrival of her Beloved; hence, when He calls, she hears. How important to be always ALERT so that one is able to HEAR. How crucial to be WAITING so that one will NOT MISS the important moment in life!  The Beloved WILL COME in His TIME.

He calls His beloved "my fair one" even though she was very dark (chp 1). Really, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder!

Together, the pair can do GREAT Exploits! They shall catch the foxes; the little foxes that spoil the vineyard. Yes, there are little foxes to be disposed of before they grow bigger and cause greater ruin.

I think it is amazing that God created all things perfect to the 'T'. Man is created to love; first we must love our Maker ~ Abba Father; then, God gives us people to love ~ special people: lovers or spouse; children; relatives; the unlovables!

How amazing also for a love story to blossom in the middle of the bible! There IS time for L O V E. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. An uncomely person deserves love too; learn to love with the SOUL; then, physical outlook is secondary.

Innate beauty blossoms out.

The END of All Things

What is Life? If not to know Christ, and to live fearing God and keeping His commandments; "for this is the whole duty of man." (v13)

It is wise to REMEMBER GOD when young before the spirit returns to God, who gave it. (v7) Without God, there is no pleasure in life at some point in time for all things are vanities.

In the end, there will be God's judgment on EVERY deed; how shall we answer God? What relationship have we established with Him to have His favour on that fateful day?

A Time and Season

All that happens in life is in its time and season; as the Lord God created and willed it to be. Man does not know how it is; thus, live your life as best as you can while you wait for the time and season.

Accountability to God is for sure at the set time; for all is vanity without insight and understanding of the end.

One may not be wise but how sad if he is foolish. "A little folly outweighs wisdom and honor." (v1) One must be careful in making decisions in life which can be costly. There is always risk and danger at life's nooks and corners; hence, one must walk carefully along life's path to avoid undesirable consequences.

Think carefully before acting to avoid bad consequences. Walk not aimlessly in life; for that is folly.

ONE Fate to All

Whatever man does, one fate comes to all... Death. Everything and everyone are in the hand of God. With death, there is no knowledge or reward. No one knows his time to go. Life on earth would be forgotten; the living does not remember.

In life, DO your Best RIGHTLY before God with a Full enjoyment. Hence, when one meets the Maker, there will be joy and reward.

Finite Man Awaiting Judgment

Man is finite in every way; who can claim to be wise? only God! He who fears God is considered wise in God's eyes; he shall be kept safe until the day of judgment. No one knows the times and seasons. It is up to God who reveals and executes.

Blessed is the man who walks in Jehovah's ways; he shall be kept safe. Man lording over man brings on hurt and wickedness.

Be Not Extreme in Your Ways

What a hard life king Solomon must have had! He kept searching for the best and completeness in everything but found it not. He wanted to know everything but in the end becomes despondent. 

It is enough that one man has tried to seek the answers and looked at both ends of the spectrum. 

Conclusion:
                   It is not for man to become God; it is enough to be satisfied with what God has given. The rest is a striving after wind and vanity. Continuance leads to foolishness. How sad for life to be so fleeting! How true that what comes after does not impact those not around any more. Hence, consider Eternity with Jesus!

Wealth & Honor Do Not Satisfy

King Solomon must be VERY Wise to conclude that material gains and honor by men do not satisfy. I suppose HE would be the BEST person to make this conclusion; so there must be some truth in it.

Man is created by God with a Vacuum in his heart, soul and spirit which ONLY GOD can fill and satisfy. 

Without God, life is meaningless; and a striving after wind. Man is born to live a brief life; like a candle in the wind; snuffed out soon enough.

How much would he have enjoyed his brief moments on Earth?

Empty You Came, Empty You Shall Go

Ecclesiastes 5

At the end of the day, everyone and everything must return to dust... hence, what better life than to enjoy it rightly because there will be an accountability to God. Striving for wealth and fame will not last; sleep can elude; riches cannot be taken away with death; another enjoys the fruit of one's labor and toil.

Everything is a GIFT from GOD. Appreciate what we have and who we are... to God's glory!

Envy Motivates Toil

How interesting to note king Solomon's discovery about work and toil! Finally, the answer to his despair...
the motivation of all work and toil is... E N V Y. (v4)

Envy is discontentment over what one has when comparing with another. Hence, it becomes a motivator to perform better in order to achieve the same status of those who are envied. It is indeed aptly mentioned that this is a STRIVING AFTER THE WIND; it is Vanity as own strength is exercised to pursue what the heart desires rather than enjoy what God blesses.

A Time for Everything

King Solomon came to the conclusion: "For EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." (v1)

God has made Everything Beautiful in its time; (v11) but He has also put Eternity into man's mind so that man cannot fully comprehend God in his own wisdom. Man is finite.

Yet, it is God's will for man to live simply ~ enjoy his work; for that is his lot. (v22) Enjoy Life with God and it shall be FULL!

Simple Truth

Every person will consider the most important question in life at some point in their life; "What is the PURPOSE of Life?" Why do they exist?

Wise king Solomon tried to answer the question; he did ALL he could to secure a satisfactory answer but there was none. His word remains the same; "a striving after the wind".  There may be a slight pleasure at the end of the day but nothing more; it is a fleeting pleasure; others get to enjoy another's toil.

Finally, THE ANSWER! Without God, all is Vanity. It is God who determines each one's lot in life; how we enjoy life depends on our relationship with GOD. Truly, only God satisfies. If one does not find Him, there is no fulfillment in life.

Discontentment with Life

What does man really want? When he does not have it, he is dissatisfied and covets. When he DOES Have it, he is STILL Dissatisfied and Wants MORE. It seems that there is no pleasing man; there is an innate insatiable appetite for that which eludes him. How sad if man, even the wisest man, cannot find satisfaction and fulfillment in life.

In the ancient days, long life was enjoyed. Only the simple enjoyed life in good health with a happy family. There would be the normal worries even within a happy family; like Job who constantly worried about his family.

Every person must find their own meaning or destiny in life.
This dissatisfaction comes from the fact that man is fallen; sin is presiding.

A Blessed Wife & Mother

Proverbs 31

This proverb is usually focused on the latter portion where a good wife is commended. However, it is written by king Lemuel of Massa who was taught by his mother. He remembered her teachings and wrote them down as a memorial.

There is so much a focused wife and mother would do to bless her family. Her heart is always for her family; to provide only the best through her hard work which she does without complaining. It is a calling. How capable is the woman who knows what her objectives in life are. She is blessed!

Contentment in Life

Proverbs 30

God provides ALL that one needs in life; from physical to spiritual. Hence, it is important to BE CONTENTED with what we have. Simple things of life ~ concepts, precepts, values ~ are not clearly understood; yet, man acts arrogantly as if he knows it all.

It is only the Word of God that stands firm; do not hope to be rich or poor. SUFFICIENCY is the key to keep aright with the Lord. There will be many things in life that cannot be understood; natural things like the eagle's movements, the serpent, relationships. Much can be learnt from animals and insects to live in contentment.

Either One or the Other

Proverbs 29

In life, there is always either ONE or the Other. There are choices to make; options to choose from. Characters can be Wicked or Righteous; all have to wait for Judgment Day at God's revelation. How will HE find each?

This is the BEST time to Prepare Self; now is the time to accept reprove and not stiffen the neck; or else one can be broken beyond healing (v1)

Now is the time to exercise restrain from evil; so that one is familiar with the right ways. Strife, wrath, pride, anger, transgressions must be shed off as the time is now available to prepare for the Lord's 2nd coming.

The Wicked and the Righteous in the Land

Proverbs 28

I sought the Lord on the GE13 results; this is what I am inspired on.

(v2) How true that 'when a land transgresses, it has many rulers; but with men of understanding and knowledge, its stability will long continue.'

There are always the Wicked and the Righteous in the land. The Lord knows WHO they are. Where there is still time, let the Wicked arouse and turn from their wicked ways before falling into the pit. The Righteous must be patient to walk continuously in his integrity. 

(v4) 'Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them.' 
This verse is for the rulers and administrators of the land; a prayer of protection and blessing upon those who strive to uphold the law for the benefit of the land; for those who have stepped forward to stand in the GE to govern with integrity.

Thank you Lord for those who are obedient to your call for standing in the gap and for the land.

The Unknown ~ the limited edition of man

Proverbs 27

There seems to be no victory for many in Malaysia when the same government prevailed in the GE13. There is a lot of disappointment, I am sure.

The first verse says, "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth."
How true the Word of God. So much hype and hope over potential victory for a change in the government; yet, it did not happen. Man is truly Limited. No one knows the mind of God although many positive prophecies came about.

Lord, help your people understand You. We are seeking You Lord. 

Do Not Be a Fool

Proverbs 26

Inspired thots

One must perform a self evaluation to determine if he or she is a fool or not. There is little hope for a fool. It is like a paradox. If you think you are Wise, you are NOT.

It is really crucial to evaluate oneself very carefully to make sure one is NOT a fool; even if others do not think so, one may be a Fool... in God's eyes.

The Wrong words; the strayed thoughts; the coveted heart... makes the Fool.

Good Relations in Life

Proverbs 25

Neighbours are public figures closest to an individual. It is wise to establish good relations with them for all matters in all seasons; they may prove helpful in times of need.

Bearing false witness against a neighbour may bring respite as the neighbour sees and hears much more than one can imagine; he may use it against us and cause us to fall instead.

Each should be alert to his life's events less he is overcome by impending trouble. Too much compliments can cause one to grow proud and have the guard let down for trouble to enter.

The End of the Wicked ~ Be Patient

It is by WISDOM that our nation is built; by UNDERSTANDING the Lord's ways it will be established. By KNOWLEDGE, people will come to know the Lord to fill the land which will prosper.

It is the WISE man who is Mightier than a Strong man; a man of KNOWLEDGE on God.

It is by the WISE Guidance of God that war is waged and there is Victory through godly counselors and prayers.

The Lord will help those in His care not to faint in the day of Adversity; May He rescue His own from death; from the wicked one. He weighs the Heart and keep watch over the Soul. You will requite each one according to their work.

There is no need to fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked for their lamp WILL be PUT OUT! Do NOT repay evil for evil for the Lord is our Vindicator!

 Amen.

The Father's Anxiety

The world is full of temptations feasting on the wrong desires of the heart. But these desires can be so strong in their temptations that one might just fall into them easily with bad consequences.

This proverb exudes the anxiety of the parent with the constant advice; but how much would fall onto deaf ears and bring ruin? It is the father's role to keep the child on the right path with gentle persuasions and reminders. Hence, it is right to honor parents.
