Being in TUNE with God

1 Kings 19

Inspired thots

Elijah had victory in God over the Baal prophets and turned the Israelites back to God but he became fainthearted again on hearing Jezebel's death threats. How small our faith can be when we take our eyes from God! How fast our faith shrinks when we allow the physical to impact us!

God is GREATER than all; He protects; He provides; He knows; God helped Elijah focused on Him to hear His still small voice when He took Elijah through the STRONG WINDS BLOWING heavily across the mountains, breaking rocks; an EARTHQUAKE and then a FIRE.

It does not matter what our EYES can see; it is how our SPIRIT hears! Be in tune with God to overcome others.

A GREAT & MIGHTY God

1 Kings 18

Inspired thots

How AWESOME is the Lord God Almighty! He will exalt Himself among the nations.  When the power of God comes down, His servants would be empowered to do His task. There is certain victory. Such was the case with Elijah who challenged the Baal prophets in front of the Israelites who went astray with Baal worship.

But God is SO MERCIFUL and KIND to bring back His people; He does not condemn them; instead, He restores them to His side. But He will have those who led others astray destroyed. The wicked would be held accountable for their erroneous ways.

Guard me Lord Jesus! Have mercy on me that I would only teach as You inspire; not on my own Lord; to YOUR GLORY! Amen.

Doing God's Work

1 Kings 17

Inspired thots

It can be SO exciting to be living in God's leading but one must be kept focused on Him to stay on the right path. Elijah obeyed the Lord and God heeded his calls for sustenance. How great and mighty is our God!
The Lord will provide at the right time even with birds or strangers. It is important to HEAR from God and OBEY.

NOTHING is impossible with God; He has all things in His hand.

The Wicked & Selfish Ways of Man

1 Kings 15 & 16

Inspired thots

Once David and Solomon died, the subsequent kings did evil in the sight of God; power and fame overtook their loyalty to God. They took matters into their own hands and forgot about their God who appointed them as kings. Thus, God let them be destroyed by each other while they strived to be king among their people.

It was so easy for each king to do evil than to do good according to God's laws. Why? Man's heart is evil unless great effort is made to keep it disciplined according to God's laws. But man tends to choose the easy way ~ to satisfy self. So sad... destruction of self follows.

Staying on Course with God

1 Kings 14

Inspired thots

Jeroboam sinned against God when he became king over Israel. He did not repent and return to God even when his son fell sick. He sent his wife shrewdly to seek the prophet's outlook on the situation. He did not acknowledge that God is in control. BUT God sees and knows all things; He informed the prophet Ahijah that it was Jeroboam's wife coming to seek counsel. Nothing can be hid from God!

It is wise for one to repent and be humble and righteous before the Lord. Do not forget God when one is blessed with material wealth. Do not turn aside to satisfy the soul when one is self-sufficient forgetting that it was God who blessed.

Obedience Till the End

1 Kings 13

Inspired thots

An unknown man of God came to warn Jeroboam to repent of his wicked ways; Jeroboam was scared to witness the power of God with his stiffen hand but once restored by God's grace, continued to walk in his foolish ways of idol worshiping.

The unknown man of God did not keep to God's word of warning till the end; he succumbed to a lying prophet who might have meant well to refresh the tired soul. But God knows best; when He gives a word, we must hold on to it till the end to avoid possible destruction.

Having a simple meal to refresh oneself caused a delay in the unknown man of God's schedule that a lion came upon him. How awesome is God as He works and gives blessings to whom He loves!

Pride Comes Before a Fall

1 Kings 12

Inspired thots

Rehoboam, Solomon's son, preferred to hear advice that makes him feel strong and mighty which impose hardship on the people he ruled. Disrespect was thus stirred from his erroneous ways. Rehoboam did not choose to be humble before the people and God when he ascended to his throne. Hence, his pride caused his downfall.

On the other hand, Jeroboam was chosen by God to be Israel's king breaking up the kingdom of David. Yet, he feared people going back to Rehoboam and plotted to stay their hearts by making idols for them to worship. Sigh! The things man does to keep fame and power for themselves instead of honouring God.

Heeding to God's Commands to the 'T'

1 Kings 11

Inspired thots

Solomon had ALL he desired; yet, he strayed from God. He married foreign wives who led him astray from God. He did not bear to heart God's promises and warnings. Man can forget God so easily. Why? Is it because God is Spirit? or God is just too kind? HOW can man keep to the ways of God? ~ only by having constant fellowship with God and not be distracted by other matters like wives and riches.

Women can be quite influential on their men; how important to have godly women to keep godly men on their godly paths. Then the home is blessed.

A God of Excellence & Abundance

1 Kings 10

Inspired thots

God provided all and more to Solomon that even the Queen of Sheba was awed by his riches and wisdom; that is our God ~ a God of Excellence and Abundance. The whole earth belongs to Him; He gives favorably to those who walk in His ways and worship Him.

How easy it is to choose this route; yet, sadly few take it. As the bible has warned, narrow is the road that leads to eternal life and few are on it.

Upright Heart to Bring About the Right Actions

1 Kings 9

Inspired thots

Solomon started his kingship well; he quickly got into the action of cleansing his kingdom off his father's enemies and building the temple of God before building his own palace and towns. He treated the Israelites well with high positions while subduing foreigners in his land as slaves.

God made a covenant with Solomon to bless him if he continues to walk with integrity of HEART and UPRIGHTNESS, doing according to all that God commanded, keeping His statutes and ordinances. (v4)

Indeed, God sees and judges the heart; it is where actions come about.
